Kojima Allegedly Banned from Attending Game Awards

I heard that Hideo Kojima, one of the developers for Metal Gear Solid V was supposedly banned by Konami to attend the Game Awards. I find it hard to believe that a person such as Kojima not be allowed to attend such an event. Anyone else have thoughts about this? The link to EGM's article is below.
