Notice my 2 mini controllers are having the same directional issue. Thoughts?

So I am playing Daimakaimura and I notice the left direction on the d-pad of both controllers sometimes are no responsive? Arthur will barley move to to left or not even budge, then wham gets hit.
Anyone else have this occur? Maybe I am not using the controller correctly?
