Some games play others don't??

Some games play others don't??

Just got a 64 from ebay and some of my old games work but others don't. We have tested banjo kazooie (works), starfox (doesn't), smash bros (doesn't). We have it hooked up to a projector, but I'm wondering if I need to run it through something like a switcher first? We have cleaned the games but can't think of what else to do?? TIA!
