Turbo duo and power supply very hot.

I just received my Japanese turboduo and I noticed that the console gets really hot near the power supply. It doesn't get so hot that it hurts my skin but I can feel a large amount of heat. The system works fine with no actual issues while playing. My power supply is an official NEC Adapter from the 1990s. It so gets very hot while plugged in. Is this an issue or is it just due to the age of the machine? If it an issue how would I fix it? The machine has NOT Benn worked on (that I can tell)
