any idea what this screen discoloration on my dS lite is?

so i've been feeling nostalgic and replaying my old pokemon games -- luckily i've got multiple dses so this hasn't really been an obstacle for me, but i noticed my 10 some-odd year old ds lite has quite the screen discolorations!
i live in a state where it gets incredibly hot (think 110+ at the height of summer) so could this be related to that? my ds original and dsi still have lovely screens, but the ds lite is functional and the back hasnt warped or swelled anywhere so i doubt its battery related. (though one of the gba sps stored with it wasnt as lucky ?) my other theory is it could be... water damage? somehow? but i'm not sure!
any insight is appreciated (: i'm not feeling too pressed to get it repaired since its just a momento, but i am curious! thank you!
