Daedalus Making Gaming a Nightmare

I installed Daedalus to play Paper Mario and the game was so fast it was unplayable. I adjusted the settings and took fast boot off and then it was so slow it was also unplayable. I tried both sound modes and neither worked properly. Read on the wiki that the game is glitchy but playable, in my case it was glitchy and unplayable.
Read elsewhere that on new installs of Daedalus you have to adjust some setting firsthand to get it to run properly but I didn’t understand which setting that was or where I found the information to begin with.
I’d like to play the game, so whoever can help with this, thank you.
EDIT: Tried the emu again today and now it’s so slow it won’t even load the N64 logo. Tried adjusting settings to speed it up, none of which worked and eventually the emu blue screened. Why would this be happening?
