GDEMU clone not reading Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC 128gb

[Released: 1998] Born out of Sega's darkest hour to decide whether the company stays in the hardware business. Even though it didn't officially last long in the US, it was continued selling in Japan and spawned some great 2D Japanese shooters.

GDEMU clone not reading Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC 128gb

Post by /dreamcast »

Hello everyone, as the title says my GDEMU clone is not reading my Sandisk SDXC card. The yellow error light flashes immediately after powering the system on while the card is in.

I know the unit works because the clone came with an 8gb sd card that works perfectly.

I used GUIFormat with 32 cluster size for formatting.

Following this guide, with the additional information provided by lemulot in the comments; https://www.reddit.com/r/dreamcast/comments/x6r4m3/how_to_prepare_an_sd_card_for_use_with_openmenu/ I used GDMENUCardManager v2.0.0 to install openMenu and a test game. when using CardManager I would add a game first, and select openMenu in the top right for installation. at which point CardManager would add openMenu as file 01 and make the game 02.

After openMenu didn't work I tried manually adding GDMENU and a game to the sd card following this guide; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkz9X5S70FQ but the same thing happened. The error light flashes right after power on.

Is there something I'm doing wrong with the card/GDMENUCardManager? or is it more likely that my GDEMU is a picky eater? If that is the case can anyone recommend a good card?

Edit: forgot to say the gdemu is version 5.20.5.

Edit 2: new problem developed, it doesn’t read the 8gb card anymore unless I plug it in after the console boots. I checked and the Sandisk works like this too.

Does anyone know a fix for this?
