"Like new" barely used 80GB Non-BC PS3 pickup - looking for advice.
Right so I picked up a "like new" barely used 80GB Non-BC PS3 recently... When I turned on the console it was running firmware version 2.36(it's original firmware) - I have subsequently updated to firmware version 4.91 since and according to the Syscon it only has around 40 hours of lifetime usage on it, so it really is "like new"
My question is... Should I disassemble it now and replace the thermal paste immediately for the best longevity? The console is actually really quiet as is, even in intense games like GoW III and Gran Turismo 6, so I don't think a delid is necessary. But I do know that thermal paste dries out over time, even when it's not been used. Chances are this console has been in storage somewhere since new in 2008.
