Controllers for a PS3

Just looking for some insight. I want to get myself a Super Slim (buying a refurbished next week) and I already found some games and stuff I like but what is the current buying meta for controllers? Any good third party options? I am pretty tech savvy from my profession and I have no issue repairing some older first party controllers if that's all I got. Any input and welcomed and appreciated!
