CRT TV, weird interlace/comb effect

[Released: 1998] Born out of Sega's darkest hour to decide whether the company stays in the hardware business. Even though it didn't officially last long in the US, it was continued selling in Japan and spawned some great 2D Japanese shooters.

CRT TV, weird interlace/comb effect

Post by /dreamcast »

I'm playing my Dreamcast through RGB scart and it's perfect except that in motion the edges of elements have a slight interlace/comb type effect.

I am tearing my hair out trying to work out what is causing this, the cable is of good quality and the TV doesn't do this with Playstation/Saturn games.

I am beginning to suspect that it's something to do with the Dreamcast pushing 480i as it doesn't happen when I run the 240p Test Suite on it.

The picture attached is one from Google as I can't capture this myself.
