Regions. hardware difference, carts and cart shapes...

My new console (NTSC-J Model 1) is not yet region modded, but I have all PAL carts in my ownership. I have only just got it all set up after not seeing a Mega Drive console in person since about new year's '97 when I traded mine collecting dust in the closet with a mate for 24 beers. Anyway, cartridges are popping up and during the shipping wait for my console, I realised that they are physically not compatible with Japanese systems. So now what? also- a lot of them lock you out from playing depending on your console's region.

So, break off the little lock thingy in the cart slot? - and then a region mod?

On the contrary, Thunder Force IV. each cart is locked to each region. Pal cart + region mod, is it stuck in 50hz? I want that full-speed action.
