Vinyl wrap used as protection

I'm getting a really clean deadstock ps2 slim. I wanna protect it because I've heard that slims can get scratched easily. Would a vinyl wrap do the job? I know it'll look a bit tacky, but I just want to make sure it's clean for a bit longer
