Fan ramps up quickly on startup
I bought this stock PS3 off a used marketplace knowing full well that it was being sold for parts, as the main issue is the fan would ramp up for no reason while idling on boot up. It doesn’t shut itself off though due to overheating, the air coming out the back is cold.
After disassembling it, it was remarkably clean with little to no dust, and the thermal paste was still new thanks to the seller reapplying it a while back. When putting it back together I made sure the heat sinks were properly seated along with the motherboard and everything else, and it still has this issue on boot up.
Could the issue be a power supply fault, or the thermal sensor being faulty? This is not jailbreaked, a fully stock ps3.
