Fabricobbled thumbstick

[Released: 1985] One of the most unusual features of the Sega Master System is its dual media inputs: one cartridge slot and one card slot. The card slot accepted small cards about the size of a credit card.

Fabricobbled thumbstick

I spent a few minutes prototyping today. I discovered that the d-pad insert is sized for an M5-0.8 screw, so I rounded up a few from my loose hardware. I filed the tops flat, then I cut one screw short (and fixed the threads). A couple pieces of heat shrink tubing conceal the threads between the d-pad and the head of the screw. I rummaged an approximately thumbstick-shaped button from the crafting supplies, sanded the back flat, and glued it to the top; it's not terrible for a first run, but there are a few things I'd do differently.
