Gameboy player not working

Hi everyone. I’m trying to get my Gameboy player to work, but I think I messed up on the parts.

I have a Japanese orange Gamecube. My Gameboy player is also orange, but it’s in English. The disc I have is in Japanese.

When I put in the disc, it says it cannot be read. How can I fix this? Do all my parts need to be Japanese?
