Looking for the name of a specific game

For the longest time I've always wanted to find a specific game I had as a kid. It appears to have been basically erased from the face of the earth- It feels weird to ask the internet about this but I'm out of options. Does anyone else know of a game that takes you through a dark area where you have to fight some monsters, and eventually there's a cutscene of a lady that turns into a lizard thing? I remember that and the name max being associated with the game. I just simply cannot figure out what it is.
