In layman's terms, could one call GameCube discs "MiniDVD-ROM"?

[Released: 2001] The GameCube, with the Game Boy Player attachment, it is able to play Game Boy/Color, and Game Boy Advance titles. It's successor, the Wii, supports backward compatibility. Panasonic released a DVD player hybrid Gamecube.

I know it's technically a proprietary format made to avoid licensing fees, reduce costs of mass production (compared to N64 cartridges), and prevent illegal copies from being made.
