Insignia questions

Will I have an issue connecting to Insignia if my HDD key was changed to all "1"s? I read that null (all zeros) won't work, so I'm wondering if it's the same scenario.
Also, if I register my console and then clone my drive (with the HDD key being all "1"s) so I can put it into a new console, will that newly softmodded console show as registered? I was curious of that also I'm not sure how Insignia gets your serial number.
