A question about using different cores

So iv just started using my hacked PS classic with project eris and im really enjoying it, now I would love to play as many games as possible with enhanced resolution as I really like the look of it. However I understand these games were never intended to run like this so obviously im getting the expected video and audio lagging and stuttering. I was wondering if this was a problem that could be resolved by changing the emulator core from PCSX Rearmed to something like Duckstation or Beetle and if so how would I go about doing this? Or is there alternatively more options within PCSX Rearmed I can tinker with to resolve this? - thanks
