SEGA Genesis ? Mega Drive shell swap

[Released: 1988] The Sega Genesis was Sega's most successful console; though Sega has never released a total sales figure quote. Several add-ons were created including the Sega CD and Sega 32X which extended its capabilities.

SEGA Genesis ? Mega Drive shell swap

Has anyone tried or investigated if it’s possible to swap shell/body of a Genesis v1 to a Mega Drive (NTSC-J or PAL)?
I personally like the shell design of the PAL/Japanese Meta Drive versions more than the US Genesis and was wondering if it would be possible to swap cases. I own a Genesis v1 (VA6.5)
