Battery replacement finished and did not lose Save Data??

Battery replacement finished and did not lose Save Data??

Hi there. I replaced the battery in a Super Mario world cart and when I fired it up I still had progress saved. Has this happened to anyone else? I was very confused. Definitely had the battery off the board for a decent amount of time 5 mins or so.
