Gba sp ips screen help

I put an ips screen into a friend's gba sp earlier tonight. I had a few drinks beforehand and forgot to put the insulation film in. I've been using it for about an hour without any issues before I realized my mistake. I know some people have said it's not necessary but I wanted to check in and see what the general consensus is. If it was my own I'd say screw it and just run with it until something went wrong but since it's not mine I want to be certain it won't cause any issues for them.
