Does a freshly-loaded SD get set for a specific Pi model when it is first booted?

The Raspberry Pi is a series of credit card-sized single-board computers developed in the United Kingdom by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries.

Example: I burn a SD, put it in a Ras Pi 3, and initialize it. Will it still work in a 4 or 400, or did something get set on the card that prevents it from working properly in a different model? /proc/cpuinfo lists the type, but I don't know if that is written each boot. Tx.
