Best PS Plus Horror Games You Can Play Right Now

Post by PlayStationLifestyle »

PS Plus recently evolved to include a wider range of games for subscribers to download and play. Among those titles are various horror games, ranging from AAA efforts to smaller, yet just as terrifying, indies. Here are the best PS plus horror games you can play right now for Halloween and beyond.
[h=2]Until Dawn[/h]Image
Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn remains one of the best PlayStation-exclusive horror games. What starts out as a group of eight teenage friends meeting at an isolated mountain lodge quickly turns into a horrifying tale, as player choice makes a huge impact on who lives and dies. Prepare for jump scares and gore in this perfect Halloween treat!
[h=2]Dead by Daylight[/h]Image
Dead by Daylight’s asymmetrical multiplayer sees survivors going up against a single ruthless murderer. The multiplayer aspect leads to unpredictable encounters that are never quite the same, making for organic jump scares and some truly terrifying death scenes.
[h=2]Little Nightmares[/h]Image
Short and sweet, Little Nightmares forces players to face their childhood fears. Combining simple yet effective stealth mechanics with intensely harrowing set pieces, this game leaves the player disturbed in the best kind of way. Then it’s time to tackle the sequel!
[h=2]Days Gone[/h]Image
Days Gone’s main party trick is its horde system which sees a ridiculous number of infected chasing after the player. It’s arguably the best part of this action-adventure game from Bend Studio. While it takes a while to get to the first horde in the story mode, players can skip past the slow and steady narrative by jumping into the “Surrounded” mode. This plops Deacon in the middle of a town and sends a massive horde of infected after him, with the objective being to survive for as long as possible.
[h=2]Resident Evil Director’s Cut[/h]Image
Go back to where it all began in the Director’s Cut version of the original Resident Evil. Players have to navigate the iconic Spencer Mansion dodging traps, killing deadly creatures, and uncovering horrifying mysteries. This might be an oldie, but it’s still not for the faint of heart!
[h=2]Demon’s Souls[/h]Image
The Demon’s Souls remake is not only the perfect starting point for players looking to get into the Souls games, but it’s also a fantastic horror experience. The constant fear of what’s around the next corner offers a unique anxiety, as death only makes the game more difficult. Couple that with the monstrous nasties that players are forced to fight and Demon’s Souls is one of the scariest games on PS Plus.
[h=2]Returnal[/h]Image
Another game where the gameplay intensity makes the monstrous enemies even more terrifying is Returnal. If the unknown alien planet isn’t scary enough, the many creatures fighting to kill you over and over again should inspire fear. Die and it’s all over, pushing stress levels to the maximum.
[h=2]Zombie Army 4: Dead War[/h]Image
Back to something more traditional: a zombie game! Zombie Army 4 pits 1-4 players against an army of nazi zombies. As is often the case, the zombies become more threatening as their numbers grow and Zombie Army 4 is willing to send wave after wave of the undead to try and take players down. This is from the developers of Sniper Elite, which means you can expect tight sniper gameplay, though that weapon is a lot less useful versus a horde!
[h=2]SOMA[/h]Image
Despite launching in 2015, SOMA remains a terrifying treat with its water-based horror mechanics. Players must navigate an isolated underwater facility where the machines have started to think that they are alive. With no option to fight, players can only try to outsmart or outrun the enemy.
[h=2]Death Stranding[/h]Image
Death Stranding combines many different genres to make for a unique gameplay experience. One of those genres is horror, with invisible enemies able to strike at any moment. It makes traversing the desolate apocalyptic landscapes intense, where even the shortest journey can result in fighting or running for your life.
