I finally found out why 360 controllers felt weird to me.

[Released: 2005] As the second console from Microsoft, the XBOX 360 completely sold out upon release in all regions except in Japan. About 33% of all consoles became defective making it the most unreliable console ever created.

It's the deadzones. Compared to Xbox One, the deadzones are absolutely massive in most games. Notable mentions for me are Red Dead and Crackdown, but it seems like all games suffer to an extent.
