Need help identifying a game!

So the details are kind of foggy. What I do remember is it was a kind of side scrolling shooter type game. You got new power ups and different types of weapons as you played and fought large (alien?) monsters. I remember one level where the ground was being destroyed and you had to go to different platforms or something. I’m sorry I don’t have more details. I think you could have more than one person in your party. It’s been bothering me for years that I can’t remember what it was called, but I was very young when I played it and I think it was a bootleg version. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it!
