Ps classic no controller connection

I have 8bitdo wireless adapter (gray model) in port 1 with ps4 controller. Both are lit solid blue so they connect but can not select any menu items. I have otg cable connected to micro usb port with usb drive with project eris on it. I used to plug usb drive into port 2 but when I power on the power indicator light flashes orange/green. Any idea how to fix the controller not connecting to the menu items?
