What is this sub's thoughts on Secret of Mana?

[Released: 1990] The SNES was the best-selling console of the 16-bit era despite its relatively late start and the fierce competition it faced. The console was able to run some of the first three-dimensional video games on consoles, beginning with Star Fox.

What is this sub's thoughts on Secret of Mana?

Post by /snes »

There seems to be so much division surrounding this game. On the one hand it looks so good visually, supposedly it plays alot like ALTTP, great adventure/exporation elements, etc. But then I hear people poo pooing it - as I havent played it myself I'm not sure why that is, supposedly its the combat? Is it the fact that its not turn based? Something about hit boxes and/or weapon charging? Maybe I'm confusing it with Secret of Evermore, but I do know nonetheless there is tons of mixed opinion on this game
So what is the reigning consensus here on the xub? It made IGN's top 10 rpgs of all time list, so it cant have been that bad!
