How to SSH to raspberry pi when connected via Ethernet cable directly to laptop, tried to google this but didn't find any obvious solution, I'm using Ubuntu.
What I did so far:
  1. connected RPI via Ethernet cable to my laptop
  2. in Ubuntu wired settings IPv4 I selected shared to other computers and in connection details:connect automatically and make available to other users
  3. run ip a to check IP assigned to my laptop under the Ethernet eno1 which is 10.42.0.1/24
  4. run sudo nmap -sn 10.42.0.0/24 to scan for RPI but it would not show up only my laptop did.
Help please!
