Can't get pi 4 to work with portable USB powered monitor over HDMI

Post by /RaspberryPi »

So this problem is driving me nuts.
I'm having major issues connecting my Raspberry Pi 4 the 'UPERFECT Upgrade 13.3" 15.6" VESA Portable Monitor.'
It had connected fine just once. After that I get nothing but no signal errors. I have no idea what going on. Or what settings the raspberry pi should be set to get the monitor to work.
I've been through a lot of trouble shooting tutorials, changing the HDMI setting in the boot config files. Even safe mode doesn't seem to work... heck it seemed to make it worse.
I'm at the stage where I'm just going to re-image the SD card and start over. But I'm bound to run into exactly the same problems again.
I just want a reliable setup. But I fear I've just bough an incompatible setup.
