How to setup FTP access to a USB drive?

Hello
I am looking for help on how to setup FTP access to a USB connected to a Raspberry Pi. I basically would like to be able to transfer files to that USB via FTP, so that I don't need to disconnect and connect the USB again.
I already setup FTP to a single folder, but now I wonder how can I configure it to have read/write access to that usb?
I'd really appreciate any help on this. Thanks in advance! ?
