Powered USB hub recommendations?

Powered USB hub recommendations?

I'm looking for a relatively cheap powered USB hub for my external hard drive. for storage. It looks like any of them SHOULD work, but nearly all of them have at least a small number of reviews mentioning that they are back powering. Guessing they're all just flukes given how many reviews things get (and other customers say they work fine), but wanted to check.
Additional desires: no super bright lights on the hub. It's going in my bedroom and if it's too bright, it'll be really annoying.
