Network diagnostic software for small display?

Post by /RaspberryPi »

I am using a Raspberry Pi with a 3.5" 320×480 display, running Ubuntu as a network diagnostic tool. The device boots into the desktop and then starts a full-screen terminal with a script that displays basic networking info (IP address, gateway etc.)
I would like something a bit more sophisticated -- an application that displays networking information in a nice GUI.
At minimum, I would need IP address, gateway, MAC address, DNS servers, first few hops traceroute, connection speed, throughput, ping time to known server.
I could spend some time writing a python app to do this, but surely, there must be a gazillion already-written ones. Any pointers would be appreciated.
