Multiple moisture sensor readings

Hi there,

I've been setting up an automated watering system for my wife's plants. The details about how I set it up can be found here (criticism is always welcome):

With just a single sensor, everything works as expected.

I've tried to hook up a second sensor in another channel of the MCP chip, using the same CS pin (and a different GPIO pin in the rpi) but I get no readout for that sensor.
​
Would I need an additional MCP chip if I want to attach another moisture sensor?
​
