capacitors or sound chips ?

capacitors or sound chips ?

I got a Japanese mega drive model one with the VGA on the back. Now the sound is cutting out anywhere between 5 to 15 mins in to game play. Is it the capacitors that need replaced or the sound chips and even so is it worth replacing ? How easy or hard would it be ?
