D&D: Warriors of the Eternal Sun - How does Hide work?

[Released: 1988] The Sega Genesis was Sega's most successful console; though Sega has never released a total sales figure quote. Several add-ons were created including the Sega CD and Sega 32X which extended its capabilities.

D&D: Warriors of the Eternal Sun - How does Hide work?

Post by /genesis »

Anyone here know how the Thief's Hide ability works?
I've been watching a streamed playthrough of this game where the streamer is really struggling with it, so I checked out the speedruns to see if there was something basic he was missing. Turns out, uh, yes, there is, the Hide mechanic on the Thief is incredibly powerful, but it seemingly never works for him. I gave the game a try as well, and encountered the same issue: while the speedrunners seem to be able to get into Hide almost instantly, I've only managed to do it once and I still can't figure out what I did differently. I'm sure there's a percentile roll involved, since this is old-school D&D, but there's clearly more to it than that. Anyone have insight into what goes in to determining if Hide works, or how to activate it more reliably?
