Weird Controller Problem

Weird Controller Problem

So I have a weird controller issue that's baffling me. So I was attempting to play Barbie Super Model of all games, and for some reason when I press up or down plus the A or B button it pauses the game. I tried some other games and didn't have this issue. So it seems to only be affecting the Barbie game. I was wondering if anyone could possibly know what the issue could be, thanks.
