Have PAL Mega Drive revisions have the same differences in sound as NTSC Genesis revisions?

[Released: 1988] The Sega Genesis was Sega's most successful console; though Sega has never released a total sales figure quote. Several add-ons were created including the Sega CD and Sega 32X which extended its capabilities.

I was hunting for a first gen model 1, but found a guy near me that sold me a later model 1 in near mint condition for €20. Should I settle for it or is it worth it continuing my hunt? Should I expect much of a difference?
