Stupid noob question.

For the life of me, I can’t get any pc to add games to my nes mini through hakchi. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I’ve got my games, I connect the nes, but the red light on hakchi never turns green. Every time I try to add games, it tells me to make sure the system is connected. Any tips? Or am I just overlooking something? Thanks dudes.
Edit: and when I go to dump the kernel, it says “doneâ€￾ with the green bar full, but it just hangs forever.
