Breaking up Bonk 2 for 3in1 SCD

The CD-ROM² is an add-on attachment for the PC Engine that was released in Japan in 1988 and allows the core versions of the console to play PC Engine games in CD-ROM format in addition to standard HuCards. This made the PC Engine the first video game console to use CD-ROMs as a storage media.

Breaking up Bonk 2 for 3in1 SCD

Post by /turboG16 »

How was Bonk 2, a 4mbit cart, broken up to work with a 2mbit cache on the 3-1 SCD? Obviously some source code was needed but what problems do you think arose in the process? Did the overall data grow from 4mbit to 20 to accommodate the way the game was sliced?
