About SBI files on the Classic

So I'm trying to get Formula One 99 to work on the psclassic and have heard about the .sbi files needed to make the game work past the initial loading screen. I tried renaming the file the same as the .cue file and made sure the game is in the same region (pal in this case) and in the same directory and tried booting it through RetroArch but to no avail. Anyone here who has tried this who can help me out here?
