What's the deal with NES Classic prices?

I've had my NES classic for 2 years now, it was just something that I got extra for Christmas because my mom saw it at World Market and thought it looked cute. Now, I'm breaking it out again and its on my desk to be apart of the permanent setup, but I thought it felt weird missing a second controller.

I looked online today, and this (official) piece of plastic is going for $60-$100. Is this right? Is it normal? Do they not make these consoles and accessories anymore?
