DS Lite battery

I recently bought a DS Lite from amazon and had to also get an UK to EU adapter for the AC adapter (that doesnt convert voltage) for it. I read online that charging should generally take around 3-4 hours but I’m pretty sure I left mine to charge for about 6. The orange light was still on, and wiggling the wire caused it to stop charging unless in a specific position. Am I just paranoid or what?
