Please Help! My 3DS top screen is messed up!

[Released: 2011] The 3DS is similar to the DS, but is capable of projecting stereoscopic 3D effects without the use of 3D glasses or additional accessories. A redesigned "XL" version of the console was also released.

I'm not sure whether I should post this here but I'll try.
I turned on my 3DS today, like normal, and immediately noticed that the top half of the top screen is black. Just black. No colour or anything. I tried restarting the console but it didn't work. It's been fine for as long as I remember, but all of a sudden it just does this.
