Somethings wrong with the A butten ( WARNING BAD GRAMMER CUZ DUTCH )

I have a 3ds ( the first one ) and lets say im playing....idk.....mario kart 7 then while im riding the kart will slow down or stop at random moments ( im still on the track ) while im holding the A butten other games to like.......super mario 3d land ( wow...lot of mario ) i want to jump but it doesnt jump while i pressed the A butten ( other games to ) do you know whats wrong?
( sorry bad grammer i am dutch plz say whats wrong :/ )
