3D effect better on new 3ds xl than new 3ds?

I just recently bought a new 3ds and the 3D effect doesn’t seem to be as good as the xl version... I move it slightly and image becomes distorted while on the xl I can move it a little bit and the image will stay in tact. Also the 3D just seems a lot more stable on the new 3ds xl than non xl.
I’m thinking that the camera is not as good or perhaps since it’s a smaller console and I hold it differently that might effect it but I tried holding it differently and the 3D effect just doesn’t seem to be the same.
In case someone gets confused yes these are both the “ newâ€￾ 3ds console version one xl one non xl
