Bought new battery for my Pokémon Red cart (NOTE: It is a Bootleg cart. It works fine though) It saved just fine for a month,

[Released: 1989] The Game Boy is Nintendo's second handheld system following the Game & Watch series. Despite many other technologically superior handheld consoles introduced during its lifetime, the Game Boy was a tremendous success.

Used a CR2032 battery.
The insides of the cart are actually different than the regular Pokemon cartridges. The battery is much easier to place in (you just shove it below a metal thing)
Do bootlegs make the battery use more energy or does the battery easily slip out? It didn't look this way when I opened it after seeing my save is gone. The game doesn't save anymore either, save is gone on restart, so this leads me to believe my battery actually drained despite being new from the store.
It's confusing because I used the very same battery for Pokémon Silver which still works fine (not a bootleg though) I also own a Yellow cart that is like my Red one that still saves, so it's weird.
