Anyone for fixing a Master System that doesn't turn on?

[Released: 1985] One of the most unusual features of the Sega Master System is its dual media inputs: one cartridge slot and one card slot. The card slot accepted small cards about the size of a credit card.

Anyone for fixing a Master System that doesn't turn on?

Post by /markiiisystem »

I've had a Sega Master System (Model 1) for a while now. I bought it without any cords as a bargin deal. Untested and in perfect shape. It shipped in and upon using some Sega Genesis cords, I tried to play the console.
Surprise, Surprise, it doesn't turn on. I try for days on end. Tinkering with cord placement, other cords, and whatever else I may think up.
Nothing.
I leave it for a few weeks and come back, try it out and... It works. I got the system to work. The saddest part of this is I bought a TON of games for it before it got in and they're collecting dust. That's because after playing a few games, it stopped powering on between game changes.
I expect some issues with the power supply, but I ain't no console worker. I should be able to open it up and look in it for anyone that needs me to do so.
Thanks so much!
