I have a NESC mini. I got Hakchi2 installed and a massive pack of (I think) all the NES games (follow this dude's instructions if anyone else is new and wants a good tutorial:

I was proud of myself for getting that sorted out and so I went on to try to install Retroarch to play some SNES and also get the cheats for NES and SNES. This is where I need help. I thought I followed all the instructions. I only loaded a few SNES games (e.g. TMNT IV and Super Mario Kart) and they show up on my menu, but when I try to play them I get an error message and I cannot for the life of my figure out how to get the cheats to work. I've tried re-installing the modules several times and resynching games and I still can't get either of those things to work for me. All the NES games work great though.

So if you have something else to throw my way I'd appreciate it. Again, I'm super new to all this and don't get all the lingo so ELI5 please.
Oh ya, my version of Hakchi is different than that first video I linked so I can't find where it "dumped" my original kernel anywhere on Hakchi (I don't have a "dump" folder or anything). If worse comes to worse, are there copies of the original kernel out here? That's not too pressing since all the NES games work, but you never know.
