Trying To Add Pokemon Fire Red

I am trying to add pokemon fire red to my snes classic, but all i get is the box art on the home screen, and when i click on it, i get a black screen and sent back to the main menu with no error code or anything. It just kicks me out. I have the GBA bios and retroarch installed, along with the mgba core, but it doesn't work. Is there a way to fix this?
